# Referral Setting

You have the ability to specify which user types (such as traders, IBs, or admins) are permitted to refer clients, thereby enhancing oversight of your referral networks and ensuring that selected referrals are strategically aligned with your business objectives.

Furthermore, you can automatically assign a client to an owner, simplifying account management for you.

### **Configuring Referral Authorization**

To setup referral authorization for user types, follow these steps:

{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Step 2" %}

2. Select the "Owner" to assign the client to.
 1. You can select a specific "Owner"; or
 2. Select "Owner of Direct Referrer". This will automatically assign the client to the same owner as their referrer.
3. Click the "Save" icon.

{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

### **Application**

1. When the Trader or IB user types are not permitted to refer clients, they will not have access to any promotional links in the CRM Client Portal.
2. If a user type that is not authorized to refer provides their referral code to a potential client, an error will occur stating that the "Referral Code is invalid." The referral code will then be cleared, allowing the client to continue registering their account.
